PERSONS APPEARING BEFORE THE BOARD:

1.                  Joe & Shannon Sarcione -  A fire bill was submitted for assisting Antrim with a fire under the Mutual Aid agreement.  Joe asked that a copy of his budget be faxed to him.  Asked about the road contract, the Selectmen stated the contract had been granted to David Vaillancourt.  Asked why, the Selectmen indicated there was not enough of a difference between the two bids to warrant changing from our current road agent.  Joe then asked where the sand pile by Island Pond went, and was told David Vaillancourt had cleaned it up, as is customary in the spring.  Joe then asked what happened to the reclaimed hot top from last year.  Selectman GrandPre' said it belonged to Lane Construction.  Joe disputed this and Shannon said he wants to see the contract.

2.                  Chris Chamberlain – picked up a building permit application.

3.                  Ellen & Glen Mason – asked for Helen Hayes to be appointed as Deputy Tax Collector.  Glen Mason submitted a letter of resignation from the position and the Selectmen signed an Oath of Office form appointing Helen Hayes.  The Selectmen asked Glen about setup of the chairs at the school for Town Meeting and he agreed to do it.

7.                  Charles Michal – representing Laurie Mercer with a building permit application for interior construction to a seasonal dwelling on Carr Island (TM# 113-39).  The plan is to tear down part of the structure and add back in a more conforming location.  The State approved a gray water system and composting toilet and they are applying for a DES waiver.  Chairman Pratt noted the DES approval is needed before the permit may be approved.

8.                  Mike Oldershaw – was asked by Chairman Pratt to come into the room.  In response to Mr. Oldershaw's concerns about the Town Hall boiler which he had voiced at the Budget Hearing, Chairman Pratt stated that the Town Hall boiler is inspected by the State every two years.  Also,  it was serviced on 3/28/08.

9.                  Patricia Putnam – stated she has a perfectly good Compaq computer screen to give away, since she bought a new flat screen.  Ms. Putnam also noted that the furnace runs all summer and it should not.  Selectmen noted that it comes on to heat the water.  It was agreed that the thermostats should be turned down as far as possible during summer months.
