What a bountiful year 2010 was! There was an abundance of all our favorite veggies and plenty for canning. One of our members put down 21 pints of zucchini relish, 12 quarts of bread and butter pickles and 5 quarts of fresh tomato sauce.
Once again our traditional vegetables and flowers will be available to anyone interested in prepaid membership for a weekly offering of fresh produce. We are adding mesclun mix and more herbs for 2011.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank LaDonna Gariepy and Margo Santoro for all their hard work and weekly dedication in helping to create our wonderful distributions.
A share will cost $450 for the 20 week season ($22 weekly) and will feed a family of 4. Last year we actually had 22 weeks of distribution as we had very early spring crops. To add value to the increase, we will be including 2 pints of homemade pickles of your choosing and a jar of homemade jelly, either blackberry or Concord grape.
Your weekly offerings will be available on Fridays from 3 to 4 p.m. At Chamberlain Farm, we do all the harvesting for you. You are invited to the farm every week to gather your produce and to socialize and share recipes. If we are blessed with a bountiful season again this year, I will be pleased to offer a basic canning class for anyone interested. This will be at no additional cost.
Please contact me regarding your interest in our offerings. We are looking forward to another great growing season in 2011.
Thank you for your support.
Warmest regards, Marilyn Chamberlain
