1. Global warming resolution (sponsored by Clean Air/Cool Planet): April 12th Speaker We are scheduled to have a speaker from the Carbon Coalition come and speak regarding
their effort to place articles on town warrants pertaining to a global warming resolution initiative.
2. Reducing Stoddard’s CO2 footprint: Opportunity for Con Com to take the lead. If the above resolution is passed at the town meeting, there is an opportunity to establish a
voluntary energy committee to recommend local steps to save energy and reduce our town’s carbon footprint.
3. Old Home Days: Tracey Messer has been contacted and has agreed to show his new documentary Four Days of Fury…..the video of Marlow Fire. This is an expanded, more
refined version of the slide presentation he made a couple of years ago.
4. Update on Robb Reservoir: we have received news that TPL has reached their funding goal of $4 million ($40 K moose plate $$, $10K private foundation are the most recent
contributions). Congress has approved the $3 million dollar Forest Legacy request and the check shall be forth coming (much relief to TPL, because any delays beyond March
would require $18,000 monthly payments on interest to the loan!!).
5. On Sunday, April 22nd (Earth Day). The Harris Center will sponsor a morning paddle on Robb Reservoir. Meet at Jct. of 123 south and Rte 9 @ 9 a.m. Bring boats, paddles and
PFD’s.
6. On Thursday, April 26th 7 pm @ the town hall, there will be a Robb Reservoir Public Information Meeting. Rodger Krussman (TPL) will give an update on the land protection
effort/timeline and the new management plan will be discussed by Meade Cadot (Harris Center), Swift Corwin (consulting forester), and Kate Daly (TPL). Posters need to be put
up around town and town webmaster contacted.
7. Budget for next year: I discussed with Evelyn and it will remain similar to last year. The city of Keene will be expanding the number of days for hazardous waste collection for Stoddard residents. Conservation commission annual summary needs to be written and submitted to Evelyn for inclusion to the town report.
8. Con Com chair will attend a CIP meeting for dept. heads on March 20th, 2007 to discuss where that effort is at and how it will address future needs of various town departments.
9. Con com members need to sign thank you notes to local donors of Robb Reservoir campaign. We have nice cards with painting of Pitcher Mtn. farm by Richard Whitney.
10. Getting new conservation commission members: we need more help. Any ideas???
Respectfully Submitted
