Highlights of Friends of the Davis Library Meeting Nov. 12, 2009

 

  The  Friends of the Library (FOL) have committed to funding the purchase of new books for the Davis Public Library (DPL).

             Books purchased: The Symbol- D. Brown

                                                 Stand Firm Ye Boys from Maine- Desjardin

                                                 Stargirl Love- Spinelli

                                                DVD series (5) local subjects, i.e. mills and ice storm

                                                Last Night at Twisted River- J. Irving

                                                 Monadnock Moments- A. Rumrill

                Ordered but not yet received:  Enemy of the People- K. Martin

                                                                            Blood Promise- Mead

 

  A FOL bookplate will identify each book that the FOL purchase for the DPL.

• The annual filing with Dept. of Justice Charitable Trusts  unit has been completed and filing has been waived for 5 years. However, the report due 11/15/2014 must be a consolidated report for the entire period of suspension.

  The library Halloween activities  organized by Ginger were well-received. About 40 costumed children came. It helped that MaryLou Stymest told those who came to her house to go down to the library.    Pictures are posted in the library.

• FOL have purchased  passes for free admission to the Telephone Museum in Warren and the Fells Museum. They are available in the Library.

  The FOL will sponsor two speaking events.

    Feb 12, 2010 Friday at 730pm – JRR Tolkien and the Uses of Fantasy. Co-sponsored with the Stoddard Historical Society at the Stoddard Town Hall.

    Mar. 13, 2010 – “It’s Not About the Hike”- Nancy Sporborg and Pat Piper. 7pm at the Stoddard Town hall.

 

Next FOL meeting is Thursday Jan. 14 at 7pm.
