Friends of the Davis Public Library meeting January 14, 2010
1. The Friends received a generous donation of $2500 from A.J. Huard. (Received before his tragic death in a snowmobile accident recently)
2. Friends membership is currently 61.
3. N. H. Humanities speaker, Clia Goodwin PhD confirmed for Feb12th. She is an independent scholar in comparative literature who will speak about J.R.R. Tolkien and Uses of Fantasy. Event is co-sponsored with the Stoddard Historical Society. 7:30PM Stoddard Town Hall.
4. Second winter speaking event planned Sat Mar. 13. At the Stoddard Townhall. Nancy Sporborg and Pat Piper will do their presentation “It’s Not About the Hike”.
5. Annual report to the NH Dept. of State Corporation Division due April 1.
6. Grant opportunity for rural libraries is available through the Libri Foundation. They will match anywhere from $50-$350 on a 2:1 ratio in new children’s hard cover books. Kelly will put together some of the library use figures needed for the application due in August.
7. May 3rd there is a conference in Portsmouth for library trustees and library friends. Angel and Jean will try to go.
8. Next meeting Feb 11, 7pm.
