Highlights Friends of DPL Mtg 9/7/10
• Electronic media section to be developed in memory of A.J.Huard, Jr. Librarian suggests we start w/2 e-readers and 3 MP3 players. We will join the NH state library system to be able to download books.
• Friends paid $300 to the Children’s Literacy Fund (CLIF) for books read by Stoddard children during the Summer Reading Program. CLIF matches the money for more children’s library books.
• Tag Sale planned Sat. Oct 9 of Columbus Day Weekend. It will be 9am to 2pm. Items for donation can be dropped off every Sat. from 9am to noon at the Gould House. The sale will be out of the Gould House garage. Volunteers to work that day should call Angel Nicoletti – 847-9547.
• Expansion of museum passes for library patrons planned. Currently we provide passes to the Telephone Museum. Looking into Christa McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, Currier Art Museum in Manchester and Mariposa Museum in Peterboro.
• Friends will buy 2 books for each month of August, September, October and November.
• Friends will pay for book shelves that Ed Saleski will build under the large window in the library. Cost about $100.
• Speakers to sponsor during the Winter to be decided at Nov. meeting..
• Current screenhouse not likely to be able to be used again next Spring. Sturdier one seen at Mr. Gs, brand new for $250. Friends will buy since screenhouse well-used by children and for WiFi access.
• Friends meeting time has been changed to second Tuesday of the month at 2pm at the library. Provides better access to the librarian’s input because she is there at that time.
• Next meeting Tuesday Oct 12 at 2pm at the Davis Public Library.
