DAVIS PUBLIC LIBRARY

STODDARD, NH

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

DATE: April 15, 2020

TIME: 1:00 pm.

TYPE OF MEETING: Regular ‘Zoom’ Meeting

PRESENT: Angel Nicoletti-Chair, Alexia Currie-Treasurer, Frankie Scofield-Secretary, Inga Cullen-Library Director, Geri Bailey-Alternate.

ABSENT:  Excused, Deb Kingsbury.

PUBLIC PRESENT:  None

1. Call to Order at 1:00 p.m.

a. Roll call: Angel, Alexia, Inga, Geri, (Frankie late)

b. Minutes:  Minutes of March 18, 2020, accepted as read.  Minutes of March 31, 2020 were accepted with the following corrections.

                  i.  The word ‘trail’ is to be replaced by the word ‘trial’ throughout.

ii.  The paragraph in the Minutes that begins “BOT and members discussed “Overdrive Marketplace a State supported network…” is to be replaced by the following:

BOT and members discussed OverDrive, an online service offered by the library through the NH State Library which allows patrons to borrow digital content (eBooks’ and audiobooks). The OverDrive collection, however, is shared by all patrons of all NH Libraries.  Therefore, many times there is a long on hold time for a book, especially for the most current and popular books. A recent analysis of the data OverDrive compiles regarding our library’s usage of Overdrive indicated that we might need to offer patrons more detailed training in the use of Overdrive.

2. Reports

                 a.  Financial: accepted as read.

                 b.  Library Director:  accepted as read.

3. Review progress on action items.

a. Inga and Martha filled out time and work documents, as asked, and did a fine job.  Also, Inga will do Martha’s performance review.

b. Inga investigating new digital programs: ‘Kanopy’ is in its 30-day free trial. Some members have already investigated programs, movies, tv, courses, with mixed reviews.  End of trial is April 30th, and we still are discussing how we will pay for this program if we decide to keep using it. We could go to a month-to-month. We want to discuss with the ‘Friends’ if they would want to take on the cost.

Inga also has looked into ‘RBdigital, another app and platform, that has many good options for patrons to use and available to view; ACORN TV, Indie Flix, video games, CDs, DVDs, eAudio, and eBooks and more.  Again, cost is something we need to work out if we choose to go this route, this platform may be more expensive, at $,1000 a year, and/or monthly family costs.  Alexia did show us areas of our budget where we have some monies that we could use, again we could ask the ‘Friends’ if they wanted to help.

No decision on new digital platform, but we encourage friends to use the ‘Kanopy’ website and give us feedback.

Inga was also asked to investigate ‘The Keene Sentinel’ online cost.

Inga is coming along with the Website, and it has great links and looks good.
