Dave made motion to approve $800.seconded by Brenda for books and DVD’s for the next year. Vote was affirmative

Angel Nicoletti, our Trustees liaison, reported that the bill for the Children’s Garden came to $543.for landscaping around the Children’s Garden and in front of the library. We had approved $400. After discussion that Dave had done all the work for free we decided to go ahead and pay the rest. Dave Fermer made the motion to pay the $143. Bill seconded and the vote was affirmative.

Downloadable Books fee is due again. After Brenda checked our balance and said we have spent $1343. tonight and need not to go overboard, she said we do have about $12,000. and no great expenses going forward. We voted to pay the annual $485. as the program is popular.

Book Pals  Everyone liked the program and thought the teachers did a great job on the final night’s program. None of us liked the letter-writing set-up. Agreed we should not send letters at the same time & should have a better address to send them to as the instructions given by the teachers were not good. Letters crossed in the mail or did not reach the student.

The Trustees received a letter and story enclosed from Michael Turner, in which he said we could use the story as we saw fit. Maybe Lauren could read it to the kids or we could use it and sell it. How long is it? Dave, who knows Mr. Turner, said there’s probably no digital copy (for editing ease). Perhaps we’ll put it in the newsletter we send annually.

Sue Bottomly has offered to sketch the library as it now appears for  $100. Discussed at length and postponed.

Candidate NIght     Angel talked about lining up some candidates* but we needed to decide on a time.  Discussed many and landed on Sunday afternoon Oct.28 at 3 pm. Angel said she would e-mail the candidates for state offices (no federal), and Dave will put in the Sentinel and Shopper. Flyers will be made an distributed, and Sal will make some signs. Due to sponsoring this program and some small ones which Lauren has organized, we have dropped the early November speaker which we usually have.

We talked briefly about having candidates for federal office, but Dave made a good point in that the questions would be different types for them.  We will give cards out for the audience to use for questions; then collect and organize the questions by topic.

Dave thought and we agreed that 5 minutes each would be enough and have questions at the end.  Brenda will bring veggie bars to add to coffee and cider for refreshment

Next meeting   Oct. 22 at 7.
