Friends of the Davis Public Library

Minutes of the June 24, 2019 meeting

In attendance:  President  Dave Ferner, Vice President  Sally Ripley, Secretary Leigh Fosberry,  Treasurer  Brenda Bryer, Library Director Inga Cullen, Member at Large Bill Steiniger, and new member Amanda Bridges.

Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7 PM..

Librarian’s Report: 

In May, we had 674 total visits (last year was 367); 217 in-house checkouts (last year was 284), and 207 electronic checkouts (last year was 163), and we loaned 5 ILL requests (last year 3).

Program attendance was estimated at 96 for three Active programs : the reception/farewell party (77), book club (11), and the gardening for wildlife program (8). 4 people visited the Makerspace table (last year was 10 for a special craft). 3 new library cards were issued (same as last year). We have also started tracking computer use: people used our computers an estimated 56 times and our Wifi 28 times.

Major upcoming Summer programs:

Science Tellers, Aliens 6/29/19

Olde Home Days Parade 7/6/19 and Book Sale

Traveling Planetarium 7/28/19 The Friends voted to fund this program. 

Friends’ Annual Meeting/Lending Doll Workshop/Play 8/9/19.

Marlow is hosting the Cold River Ranters Band on 8/8/19 and welcomes Stoddard residents as well.

Additionally, there will be a 6-week Tuesday morning program for school summer camp attendees, a Saturday STEAM program and a couple Saturday storytimes offered. 

Trustee’s Report, Comments, Requests:  There were none.

Treasurer’s Report:  The report was accepted as written and will be filed for audit.

Minutes of the April 22nd Meeting were approved as written.

Annual Meeting and Program – The meeting will begin at 6:45 PM and the Program at 7 PM.

Old Home Days Book Sale – We will meet to set up at 7:30 AM.  The sale will run from 9 AM to 2 PM.
