SEEKING ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

We are now accepting applications for an Animal Control Officer to serve the Town of Stoddard, NH.  Applicants should have a love for animals, be a strong communicator and have some experience handling domestic animals and wildlife.

This position offers flexible hours where calls are responded to based on prioritization and availability. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Enforcement of state and local ordinances involving animal treatment, dog registration and animal control.

Transport animals to agencies, shelters, or veterinarians while you attempt to locate the owner, or when the animal needs to be impounded or investigated for diseases, such as rabies.

Investigate alleged animal abuse or other violations of State Statutes and Town Ordinances.

Investigate animal bites, arranging for appropriate identification and quarantine.

Investigate complaints related to animal care/behavior, or reports of injured, stray, sick or dangerous animals.

Capture and safely handle animals, including domestic pets and wildlife. Take possession of animals that show signs of neglect, inhumane treatment, disease or malnutrition.

Provide education and outreach to the community on responsible pet ownership.

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.

Maintain accurate records of all activities and incidents.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, plus two years of experience handling domestic animals, animal care or law enforcement; or equivalent combination of both education and experience.

Valid driver’s license and ability to become NACA certified in Animal Control are both required. Also required is the ability to become certified on any and all department-issued weapons and equipment necessary to capture and/or euthanize animals, according to established protocol.

Pay Range: $18 - $22/hour to start
