THANK YOU

Firstly, I know the recent storm has brought both frustration and a large amount of concern.

Secondly, I want to thank our First Responders, our Emergency Management team,

Michelle, and my deepest thanks go to the people of Stoddard.  Again, when we asked for help you were there. To me, that makes Stoddard the best place in New Hampshire to live.

To Deputy Chief Merrill, you were thrown right into the deep end of the pool (no pun intended). You and your team stepped up and with a limited number of people you excelled. Thank you to Chief Anderson for building a top notch team that supported town efforts and for making yourself available.

David, I know you heard both the good and bad, but you too, with a small crew, also were  there for the town, working late into the night only to get back to the task early yesterday morning. One thing we should all remember is that we need each other first if the roads wash out. We, as a community could become isolated.

Dan Eaton, your quick response and coordination helped everyone conduct their necessary roles in a timely and efficient manner. Thanks for taking the reigns and making sure communication remained open and constant.

Also an important Thanks to our neighboring towns, Nelson and Antrim, who graciously offered auxiliary shelter to residents in the event that roads became impassable from Island Pond to our School and Town Hall. They offered space for our residents immediately and without question. Their support was so appreciated and a comfort during our most stressful moments yesterday.

First Student, Inc, was able to provide busses within 20 minutes to support evacuation efforts should they be needed. Their ability to respond to our request so quickly was commendable and so appreciated.

Going forward as a town, we will look at both the good things that happened, along with the bad, and come up with plans that will help to reduce the bad. These lessons will be well learned, and action will be taken.

Last, but not least, to George Davenport and Herb Healy: Thank you for using your personal equipment to get the sand bags filled and placed. Your help was invaluable.

With my deepest thanks and praise,

                                                               Chris Madden
